Description
Are you seeking fun, quick, easy-to-use Thanksgiving writing prompts?
Do you want to fill in odd time chunks around the fall season with a more purposeful assignment that the students will enjoy?
Are you looking for a fun way to engage your students with writing AND incorporate a holiday theme at the same time?
Try this team writing activity.
Â
Team writing is having students produce written work as a group. In these activities, the students work on creative writing pieces independently and pass them from student to student, which results in the entire group writing a part of every story.
Â
This swap-a-story lesson gives Thanksgiving and fall prompts that allow whole classrooms or groups of students to write a multitude of stories together simultaneously.
How it works: one student starts a story, then passes it to the next student, who adds a few sentences before passing it on, etc. Every student begins their own story at the same time, so everyone is always writing.
This activity always brings laughter; students enjoy seeing their final story result. This activity is a great choice around the holiday breaks when students have a little extra energy.
Included:
   Suggestions for Use
Five Thanksgiving or fall story prompts on holiday paper
Additional holiday paper for multiple pages to one story
