Description
Are you looking for a fun activity to introduce your study of poetry? Â This high-interest activity combines the fun and challenge of a scavenger hunt with the beauty and magic of poems.
Â
This poetry scavenger hunt allows your students to dive headfirst into the world of poetry while looking for poems to fit different categories.
This copy-and-go resource allows students to use both books and online sources. This scavenger hunt can be introduced as a whole group but then completed as individual or centers work over the course of a couple of weeks.
It can be used with any level of poems so that every ability level can complete the same assignment.
Â
Part of the assignment is to include the source. Elementary students need to start getting in the habit of crediting their sources (not APA bibliography – just listing their source), so part of the assignment is to include the source where each poem was found.
Â
A student/peer checklist and a scoring rubric are included.
Â
Resource includes:
Suggestions for Use
A Scavenger Hunt Challenge and directions
The Scavenger Hunt Chart
Scavenger Hunt student checklist (with peer evaluation section)
Scavenger Hunt Scoring Rubric
Â
Enjoy this fun way to introduce your students to the beautiful world of poetry. Have your students write poetry, too. You may enjoy these resources:
Also included in each resource is a visualizing poetry lesson using a classic poem.
