Description
Do your students know the difference between a bee and a wasp? Are you looking for ways to get your younger students to write about animals? And maybe connect that writing to real-life examples they can find right outside their classroom doors?
And does all this need to be simple, easily put together, and able to fit in multiple areas of your elementary classroom?
I got you!
I created these resources to help guide my younger students through their first research projects without being overwhelmed or unsure of what information to find. This very low-prep (copy, fold, and go) report template is easy to use and keeps the students engaged with the mix of facts, diagramming, coloring, and drawing.
Students will diagram essential parts of the animal, draw and color a proper habitat, list the animal’s needs, draw and color the animal, and include the details of its life cycle. They must also show their learning by explaining if the animal would make a good pet or what people can do to help it in the wild.
Students also extend their learning by taking the information and completing a t-chart and a Venn diagram. Themed paper is also provided for students to write a comparison paragraph.
These two animals were chosen because they are so similar, and now children can answer the question, “What is the difference between a bee and a wasp?”
Included in this resource:
Bee Report Template
Wasp Report Template

T-Chart- Comparison Activity
Venn Diagram
Mini-Book Option
